Customers who bought Dr. Squatch soap, deodorant, shampoo or other products labeled "natural" may be eligible for cash from a $9 million Dr. Squatch settlement. The lawsuit alleged the products contained synthetic ingredients despite the "natural" label. Claims are due November 27, 2026.

What Is the Dr. Squatch Settlement About?

The case is Guzman, et al. v. Dr. Squatch, LLC, Case No. 25STCV03523, in the Superior Court of California, County of Los Angeles. Six plaintiffs alleged that Dr. Squatch marketed its men's personal care products as natural even though they contained ingredients the plaintiffs say are synthetic.

Dr. Squatch denies the allegations and maintains its products were properly labeled. The company agreed to settle after mediation, without any finding of wrongdoing, to avoid the cost and uncertainty of further litigation.

Who Is Eligible?

The settlement class includes anyone who bought a covered Dr. Squatch product in the United States between November 1, 2018 and August 29, 2026. Covered products include any Dr. Squatch item with "natural" on the label, such as bar soap, body wash, deodorant, shampoo, conditioner, beard oil, cologne, lotion, face wash, hand soap, lip balm, shave butter and toothpaste. The full list is in Exhibit C of the Settlement Agreement.

Current and former Dr. Squatch employees, officers and their immediate families are excluded.

How Much Will You Get?

The $9 million fund first covers attorneys' fees of up to $3 million, up to $50,000 in costs, service awards of up to $40,000 and about $475,000 in administration costs. Claimants can request roughly $0.50 per product: up to five products ($2.50) on a signed attestation, plus up to 20 more with proof of purchase, for a household maximum of $12.50 (25 products). Payments are adjusted pro rata, up or down, depending on the number of claims. The exact amount depends on the number of valid claims filed.

Payments will be issued by check or a choice of digital payment methods.
