Washington residents who spent money on virtual coins inside the High 5 Casino or High 5 Vegas mobile apps may be entitled to a share of a class action settlement worth up to $30 million. The lawsuit accused the app maker of running an illegal gambling operation under Washington state law, and no purchase receipts are required to file a claim.
What Is This Settlement About?
High 5 Games and its parent company, PTT, LLC, developed and operated two social casino apps - High 5 Casino and High 5 Vegas - that let users buy virtual coins to spin slot-style games. Although the apps paid out no real money, a class action lawsuit filed in April 2018 argued that charging real money for chances to win in-game prizes constituted illegal gambling under Washington law.
The case, Larsen v. PTT, LLC, was filed in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Washington (Case No. 3:18-cv-05275). Plaintiffs alleged violations of Washington's Recovery of Money Lost at Gambling Act and the state's Consumer Protection Act - two statutes that allow players who lose money in illegal games to recover their losses, potentially up to three times the amount spent.
After more than eight years of litigation, the parties reached a settlement that received preliminary court approval on August 14, 2026. A final approval hearing is scheduled for February 8, 2027.
Who Is Eligible?
You may be eligible to file a claim if all of the following apply:
- You are a Washington state resident (as determined by billing address, IP address, or other platform data)
- You purchased virtual coins on High 5 Casino or High 5 Vegas
- Your purchases occurred between April 9, 2014 and October 1, 2022
Eligibility is verified against the defendants' own platform records, so no purchase documentation is required. If you received a notice in the mail with a Unique ID, you may enter it when filing - but it is optional. People who have already excluded themselves from the settlement, and the named defendants, are not eligible.
How Much Will You Get?
The settlement fund ranges from a guaranteed minimum of $12 million to as much as $30 million or more. Defendants will pay $4 million upfront, followed by at least $1 million per year for up to eight years, plus contingent payments tied to their net annual income or any future business sale.
Your individual share is proportional to how much you spent on virtual coins during the class period - the more you purchased, the larger your slice. Because the final fund size and number of valid claims both affect the per-person amount, no specific payout figure can be estimated in advance. Payments below $10 will be held and rolled into a later distribution once the threshold is reached.
Payments will begin only after the court grants final approval at the February 8, 2027 hearing and any appeals are resolved.
